Kennywood Ticket Sale Date
The Peters Township School District Kennywood Picnic day is Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Discounted tickets will be on sale in District school buildings on Tuesday, April 22. This year, tickets are $25 each and may be purchased by cash or money order only. Click more info for specific times to purchase tickets in each building.

UPDATED! New Phone System for PT Schools
On March 28, Bower Hill Elementary was added to the list of District buildings included in the new phone system. The new phone system in now in place in the Bower Hill, the Middle School, High School, Administration Building, Bus Garage and Pleasant Valley Elementary. This system will provide improved reliability and includes added features for staff members. Over the next few months, you will be alerted as additional schools are brought online to the new system. PTMS is a National Blue Ribbon School!
The U.S. Department of Education has named Peters Township Middle School as a National Blue Ribbon School. This year, 286 schools were designated as 2013 National Blue Ribbon Schools based on their overall academic excellence or for their success in closing achievement gaps. The Department will honor the 236 public and 50 private schools with their National Blue Ribbon School awards at a conference and awards ceremony on November 18-19 in Washington, D.C.
School Performance Profiles Available
Beginning in 2013, school districts across Pennsylvania will now share student academic performance data using a School Performance Profile (SPP). While schools previously received a No Child Left Behind designation of “adequate yearly progress”, public schools will now receive an academic performance score.
Overall our scores are excellent and reflect the high standards that our parents and community expect from our schools.

PTHS Announces New National Honor Society Members
On Tuesday, April 8, 111 students were inducted into the Peters Township High School National Honor Society. The students were honored in a ceremony with parents in attendance for not only their academic excellence, but for meeting the Honor Society’s standards for leadership, service and character.
PTHS Juniors Earn Perfect Scores on SAT and ACT
Congratulations to juniors Nicholas Roberts and Roy Wang who earned a perfect score (2400) on the SAT Exam. Junior Matt Gummersbach tallied a perfect 36 on the ACT Exam as well. According to the College Board, more than one million students take the SAT each year and typically fewer than 400 students receive a perfect score. On the ACT, approximately 1,100 students nationwide earned a perfect ACT score.
Senior Max Lindsay Named National Merit Finalist
Peters Township High School senior Max Lindsay has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Max is among an elite group of nearly 15,000 students nationwide to earn this honor and will now be included in the scholarship awards competition.The students are evaluated based on their academic record, information about the school's curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, a written recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership, and a personal essay.
National History Day Winners
Peters Township’s youngest history enthusiasts made their presence known at the regional competition of the National History Day contest, known as NHD-Pittsburgh. Seventeen students from Peters Township Middle and High Schools competed among more than 400 students across the region. Entries this year focused on the theme of “Rights and Responsibilities in History.”
